Symposium on Keyhole Techniques in Medicine

07th Feb 2009

Indo German Orthopaedic Foundation joined hands with MIOT Hospitals on the eve of MIOT’s 10th anniversary celebration and successfully conducted a two day Symposium on Keyhole Techniques in Medicine. The event was held at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai on 07th & 08th February 2009.

More than 398 delegates across the globe participated in this event.

Topic of discussion
Various approaches of minimally invasive techniques, both keyhole and pinhole, and its benefits to the patients were discussed in this event. The topics discussed and the speaker’s details are briefed below.

The whole concept of modern science is to cure patients with the least amount of disruption to their bodies and mind. When we doctors say “Minimally Invasive”, most of the people do not understand. As a Doctor and a Surgeon, it is our duty to bring modern innovations in science to the knowledge of the public in a language they understand. When we say Minimally Invasive, it just goes over their (patients) heads. But if we say keyhole surgery the patients immediately understand it is a surgery with a small exposure.

The event witnessed eminent specialists from India, Germany and the United Kingdom showcasing their expertise by performing surgeries that were telecasted live to the participating surgeons. This event also brought together both the doctors and the public to a much closer level.

MIOT Hospitals: On the frontline of medicine

In 1999 MIOT Hospitals went from being an ideal in the mind of its founder to a fully functioning hospital. Along the way MIOT developed from being an orthopaedic centre to one of India’s premier multi-speciality hospitals. Donning the mantle of innovator, MIOT introduced computer navigation surgery for knee replacements and promoted patient friendly concepts like keyhole surgery, pinhole surgery and bariatric surgery. Based on its extensive expertise in orthopaedics MIOT launched the Global Centre for the Ideal Joints to develop implants for the Indian anatomy. MIOT also launched “Joint for Life” in Replacement Surgery. With the MIOT Institute of Research making excellent progress in stem cell research, MIOT continues to fight from the frontlines in the battle against diseases.
